Mountain expert and Fulbright Ambassador Dr. Fausto Sarmiento of Quito, Ecuador teaches at the University of Georgia in the southeastern USA. He provides Capacity Building expertise to the Mountain PA Network to increase management effectiveness of mountain protected areas. He has authored, translated, and contributed to a number of publications including:
- Guidelines for Planning and Managing Mountain Protected Areas (2004)
- Guías para la Planificación y el Manejo de las Áreas Protegidas de Montaña (Spanish language translation) (2004)
The Spanish Edition was translated by Ms. Elena Sarmiento, with Dr. Fausto Sarmiento serving as science advisor. Both teach at the University of Georgia in the USA. - Managing Mountain Protected Areas: Challenges and Responses for the 21st Century (2004)
