Upcoming Conferences of Interest to our

Mountains Biome team

9th World Wilderness Congress “Feel, Think, Act (Siente, Piensa,  Actua)!”.

November 2009 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. This is an important event organized by the WILD Foundation and Unidos para la Conservación (UPC). Daily agenda and details are available at the Wild Foundation website: www.wild9.org.

Our Mountains Biome team is presenting a book launch and workshop at this event. Connectivity Conservation will be integrated into the entire Congress, and the Congress' plenary session on Wednesday November 11 will feature the launch of our book Connectivity Conservation Management: A Global Guide. This will be followed by presentations on connectivity around the world and in Mexico.

The 3-day IUCN Mountains Biome symposium will start the afternoon of Tuesday November 10 and continue on the afternoons of November 11 and 12. We will include a focus on connectivity conservation in the Himalayas and Altai Sayan building on our work in Nepal last November. It will be enriched by papers on climate change and species range shift and some interesting marine examples.

There will also be a Mountains Dinner on Sunday, November 8th at 7:30pm at Casa del Balam Hotel not far from the Siglo XXI Convention Center. See map below for details. For questions about the Mountains Dinner, please contact Dr. Larry Hamilton.
