Educational Resource Kit for Mountainous Regions - 2011 
This a wonderful new teaching resource kit designed for people living in mountainous regions proposes some original projects, such as creating a “treasure collection” using natural objects like stones, seeds, leaves and even soil samples; making a mosaic out of plants, reflecting the typical flora of mountain areas; or learning to recognise animal tracks. The kit was produced recently by the UNESCO Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences and its Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB). It includes a manual for teachers and an activity book to be completed by pupils, using a fun and engaging approach so that 10 to 15 year-olds living in mountainous areas can learn about their environment and its specific issues, such as soil erosion. Its contents have been designed as part of the activities for the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). The kit is available in English and French.

Publications by IUCN ROWA - IUCN publishes an array of publications on conservation and sustainable development issues, and is recognized as the scientific authority behind many of the management guidelines, state-of-the-art assessments and conservation policies in use today.
The IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA) was established in October 2004 covering the region of West Asia, Central Asia and North Africa (WESCANA). The new region now referred to as West Asia covers 13 countries which include: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq and Iran.
