Scientists, academics and protected areas managers gathered in Yosemite Valley on April 7, 2010 for this excellent symposium convened by the National Park Service and introduced by Dr. Niki Nicholas. I was delighted to see that international perspectives on these important subjects were included. One of the presenters was a colleague from the IUCN-WCPA Cities and Protected Areas Task Force and the Tourism Task Force, Dr. Yu-Fai Leung, Associate Professor at North Carolina State University. He and a colleague from Taiwan, Dr. Yi-Chung Hsu of National Dong Hwa University saved time after the symposium to enjoy the iconic natural features of Yosemite. --Linda McMillan

Our pre-Congress workshop took place in the beautiful mountains of the Drakensberg region of South Africa, on the border of Lesotho. Our post-Congress dinner was truly memorable - the perfect way to savor and celebrate our international mountain comraderie.
